I have learnt so much since I joined The Preserver's Kitchen. I live on a quarter-acre section in Gisborne, New Zealand with my family, where I grow and preserve food in a way that fits everyday life.
I’m not a typical homesteader with acres of land and endless time. I know what it’s like to want healthier, homemade food on the shelf while juggling family life, work, and a busy home – and that's why I do things differently.
I hold a PhD in Bioprocess Engineering and an industry certification in the canning of low-acid foods (Retort Supervisors' Certification, DWC Food Tech, Australia). Before creating Patch to Pantry, I spent over a decade teaching food engineering to university students and working in the food industry.
Today I combine that technical expertise with practical, real-life experience to help families confidently and safely build pantries full of nourishing homemade food.
Preserving started as a way to provide healthier, additive-free meals for my family, but it became so much more. It taught me to slow down and enjoy the intentional, mindful act of creating nourishing food.
As the world has changed, preserving has brought my family security, ease, and healthy, time-saving meals, and I want this for you too.
